Qualifications

A person that wishes to become a primary school teacher will have to go through the following steps:

  • Obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education Pedagogy. If you have previously completed a pedagogical high school, pursuing a teaching master’s program is generally not mandatory (although it might be required in specific situations). If you have not completed a pedagogical high school, completing a teaching master’s program of at least one year is necessary. During the bachelor’s and/ or master’s studies, you will also undertake a teaching practice program, to interact directly with students and acquire the required skills in a practical setting.

  • Participate in the national teaching licensure exam (which includes portfolio evaluation and a written test) and obtaining the teaching license certificate.
