Social Worker
A social worker is a specialist who supports people in vulnerable situations (children or adults) to improve their social, emotional, and psychological well-being. In Romania, a social worker can work in different ways:
Employed in a public institution, especially in the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection.

Owner of a private social work office.
Responsibilities
Assess the needs of people in vulnerable situations and discuss directly with them.
Identify and propose intervention plans to support vulnerable people and monitor their progress.
Provide emotional support and counseling adapted to individual needs.
Help people gain access to needed social, medical, educational, or legal services.
Keep clear records of managed cases, documenting the process and writing reports.
Work with other specialists to solve complex cases.

Qualifications
A person who wants to become a social worker must follow these steps:
Complete a bachelor’s degree in social work at an accredited university.
Submit the application to join the National College of Social Workers in Romania. Once approved, the person is registered in the National Register of Social Workers in Romania and receives the license to practice as a social worker.
