Qualifications
To become a dentist in Romania, one must:
Complete a 6-year university program in dentistry at an accredited medical university, obtaining a degree in Dental Medicine.
Register with the Romanian College of Dentists (CMSR) and obtain the annual license to practice. Upon registration, the dentist takes the Hippocratic Oath and can begin practicing. A general dentist can perform routine treatments but not specialized procedures.
To become a dental specialist (e.g., oral surgery or orthodontics):
Pass the national residency exam for dentistry and be assigned to a training center based on specialty, university, and available positions.
Complete residency, lasting 3–5 years depending on the chosen specialty. Multiple residencies cannot be completed simultaneously.
Pass the specialist exam after residency to obtain the title of dental specialist.
