Qualifications

To become a general practitioner / family doctor, one must:

  • Complete a medical degree (6 years) from an accredited Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.

  • Pass the national residency entrance exam and choose the specialty “Family Medicine.”

  • Complete a 4-year residency in Family Medicine to become a resident doctor.

  • Pass the specialist exam after residency to obtain the qualification of Family Medicine Specialist.

  • Register with the Romanian College of Physicians (CMR) and obtain an annual practice license, including taking the Hippocratic Oath.
